Traveling with all sorts of friends (August 18 - Day 143, 17.1 miles, Hoyt, KS)

People on animals and various methods of transportation have joined me on the trip. It's crazy! Two women in Kansas hopped out of a driveway about 3 miles into my run this morning and started running with me, without me even knowing ahead of time! One of the women, Trisha, heard about my run on the news and said to herself, "I can't let the opportunity pass to go run with this girl!" I'm finally here! Might sound corny and unreal, but I have been waiting to cross into Kansas since day one. Why? I will begin wearing them on Saturday when I cross into Kansas, and wear them proud and strong all the way till the end of the magnificent state:-) I am… Continue

Reading waves in MISSOURI!!!! August 4 - Day 129, 19.2 miles, Unionville, MO

Yep, that's right! I am in Missouri! State #11, baby! The crossing from Iowa into MO was hilarious. We were greeted by an old run-down "Krazy Franks" Fireworks shack and a rotting eye-sore of a white house with turkey vultures living in a hole on the roof. The state line was actually a visible LINE on the road where you could see the nice, reddish Iowa pavement blatantly end and the crummy, black and gray, stoney, uneven Missouri road begin. Big fat difference. Oh boy...what does Missouri have… Continue
